“Our American Journey in Music"
The Stanly County Chorale and the Stanly County Concert Band are proud to present their Spring Concert, “Our American Journey in Music,” featuring the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by North Carolina composer Bruce W. Tippette. The performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. on April 30 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.
The highlight of the evening will be the debut of Tippette’s original composition, “Tapestry of America,” created to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary. Tippette, an accomplished American composer with internationally performed works, has crafted a piece that equally showcases the talents of both the Chorale and the Concert Band.
Drawing from the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, “Tapestry of America” weaves together iconic American texts to reflect the ideals, diversity, and shared spirit that define the nation. The piece is designed to honor the many voices that contribute to the rich, evolving fabric of the United States.
As anticipation builds, this collaborative concert promises an inspiring evening that blends local artistry with a celebration of national heritage—uniting the community through music and shared history.
